About
Janae is the founder, creator, and curator of threadit. She discovered at an early age that she had a passion for people. This calling has led her on a journey of making a change in her family, community, and the world. She has traveled to Bangladesh for an internship with Motif, a fair trade company, and to Austria in search of sustainable wool options for her clients and her Fall/Winter 2019 fashion line.
Janae decided to become a Cyclone because of the exceptional programming of Iowa State. Their degree specialization, state-of-the art facilities, hands-on experiences, and annual fashion show garnished real-world opportunities. She studied Apparel, Merchandising, and Design. She proudly displays her Bachelor of Science degree. Go Cyclones! Janae envisions threadit as a means to bring awareness to global issues on a local context. She recognized a need in the Ames community and surrounding area. Her desire is that threadit is a voice for women to be empowered and valued. She also saw it as a safe work environment that cultivates personal growth. In 2016, Janae’s passion was born into a brick and mortar shop called threadit located in the historic city center of Ames, Iowa. Her enthusiasm has also led her to join numerous community groups including Startup Ames, Main Street Cultural District Design Committee, and intramural leagues including volleyball and softball. She teaches yoga at the Ames Parks and Recreation community center. She has participated in local arts events and poetry slams. |
