The threadit Fall Fashion Show is seeking designers to share their work. We are looking for designers to create 1-3 pieces with an emphasis on sustainability and up-cycling. This can mean reinventing something that already exists or utilizing materials that would otherwise go to waste. Use the mood board pictured above as inspiration for your design. The fashion show will be held at Reliable Street. "Reliable Street is a collective space in Ames that works across the disciplines of art, design, and economic development setting to strengthen the connection between the public and place-making."Designers can also gain inspiration from the venue and the purpose behind it. There are two categories of designers, ready-to-wear and couture. Ready-to-wear pieces will walk in our fashion show. Couture pieces will be displayed in a gallery style. Designers can apply for either or both categories. To apply, we expect you to have a fully formed idea and sketches of what you intend on creating. After applications have been submitted, we will then invite our chosen designers back for an interview. At this point, we expect you to have more work done on your pieces and at least fabric samples. A $25 deposit to reserve your spot in the show. This will be payed back to you upon completion of the fashion show. Designers submitting garments in the ready-to-wear category are responsible for finding their own model. In addition they will need to fit and style their model on their own time. Timeline Applications are due Tuesday, October 1st. Interviews will take place between October 2nd and October 9th. You will be contacted to set up a time. The fashion show will take place on Saturday, November 2nd.
